about...
Adam Rudegeair is a Melbourne-based piano player/songwriter. His major projects include the jazz/groove Adam Rudegeair Trio and the noir-jazz-cabaret project Neon Bogart. He is also the pianist in Glasfrosch and Henry Manetta and the Trip. Raised on straight ahead jazz, and becoming a funk autodidact as a teenager, Adam Rudegeair walks the tightrope between the two styles, and is constantly searching for new ways to mash them together. Some favourite artists include: Medeski Martin & Wood, Thelonious Monk, Prince, Dr John, Herbie Hancock, Meshell Ndegeocello, Erykah Badu, and Janelle Monae.
On 9th June 2011, Neon Bogart released a new single Weightless (featuring Jen Kingwell) back-to-back with The Jane Austen Argument single Under the Rainbow.
Weightless is the first release from Neon Bogart since 2009's EP CyberblancaI. He also performs on Glasfrosch's album If You Go Far Enough into the Sky You'll Come Out Underwater, which was Beat Magazine's album of the week. It was launched on June 26th 2011.
Adam Rudegeair's first album Transmogrify was released in 2004. Since then he has recorded three EPs including Rhymes With Donkey and Well-Kept Woman (with Anna Gilkison).
Adam Rudegeair continues to gig constantly and record prolifically. In late 2011 he will be at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival, and will undertake a tour with Melbourne Indie Cabaret duo The Jane Austen Argument across Europe and the US during September and October. When in Melbourne, Adam Rudegeair can be seen frequently performing at venues such as the Paris Cat, The Uptown Jazz Cafe, Nichols Food and Wine Bar, and The Toff in Town.
Adam Rudegeair's most recent full-length album Bayou Tapestry is a sprawling voodoo swamp-funk recording. It was launched on February 23rd 2011 to a full house at the Paris Cat in Melbourne.
Bayou Tapestry weaves a rich texture of sounds, referencing numerous genres with integrity and originality.
